Rock For Brox!

This is outside the realm of writing, but this blog is mine and I can do what I want with it!

My nephew, Broxton Taylor, has been diagnosed with the infantile type of Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis (INCL), also known as Batten Disease. He is only 18 months old. After developing at a typical rate during his first year Broxton began regressing, losing his ability to speak and the full range of movement. Since December 2010, with the help of an army of doctors, Broxton’s parents have been trying to find out what is wrong with their little boy. On June 23, 2011 they received the awful truth. This disease is fatal, extremely rare, and there is no known cure.

You can read about Broxton’s status at the following website: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/broxtontaylor

The Batten Disease Support & Research Association has some great information: http://www.bdsra.org/index.html

Rock For Brox, a benefit to help Broxton’s family with medical expenses, will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at Flanny’s Bar & Grill in Tempe, Arizona. The benefit will include door prizes, a silent auction, a temporary tattoo artist, The Cat in the Hat, and music from Hello Swindon. (In the interest of full disclosure, I am a member of Hello Swindon.)

Rock For Brox will begin at 5:00 p.m.

Flanny’s Bar & Grill has great food and an awesome beer selection: http://www.flannys.com/index.html

Rock For Brox is being aided by the Music for a Cure organization: http://musicforacureaz.com/

If you live in the Phoenix area please try to make it out to the benefit or visit Broxton’s website. Providing love and support is the number mission at this point. Thank you to everyone who is helping out with the benefit and offering their love to Broxton and his family.

See you on July 30!

I will also remind our friend Todd about his promise for Dreyer’s for a year basket! Hope Kody and family are getting the emotional help they may need. See you VERY soon. Puryear
